Project Information

Design Engineering, Inc. (DEI) played a vital role in the successful completion of the 5.2 miles Lakefront Seawall Area Erosion Control Paving Project and Historic Rehabilitation. The end result was a stabilized seawall, controlled erosion, improved drainage, and a beautiful pedestrian walkway between the seawall and Lakeshore Drive. DEI’s ingenuity and foresight was exemplified by designing and constructing a test section at the Mardi Gras Fountain along Lakeshore Drive which survived the destruction of Hurricane Katrina with only minor debris collection required.

Scope Of Work

As the lead firm in charge of feasibility, planning, design, EDA, EDC, and QAR, DEI expertly navigated the complex tasks of constructing a pile-supported concrete erosion control slab, drainage penetrations through the 90-year-old sea wall, electrical engineering and lighting calculations, landscape architecture, cantilevered retaining walls, and roadway paving. The project also required additional utility design, planning, and construction to ensure the roadway was adjacent to a 4-lane scenic parkway.
